Miss Daisy is 1 today, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS DAISY, my beautiful Caravan!!! She was really built in 1945 so in theory she is also 75 – what a lady she has been around the block :)…
My book takes third place at the awards
It gives me great pleasure to let you all know that my book, A Piece of Cake has taken out the third place for the best Pastry book in the world at the Gourmand World Cookbook award held last night in Yantai, China. How Cool is that!! Not a bad spot for my first ever cookbook running against pastry books from all over the world, including france the home of pastries. The Gourmand Cook Book Awards are considered the Oscars of the Book World and I have been fortunate to be able to come to China to attend to represent my country of Birth the land of the long white cloud, Aotearoa, New Zealand. As you all probably know if you have been following my blog for a while, my book took out the Best Pastry Cookbook in New Zealand, which allowed me the great honour to be able to come to the awards. Kit Kat Blondies
It was a good friend of mines birthday a few weeks ago, ok may be not weeks ago it might have been a few months ago, I have just lost track of time again,. You all know how hopeless I am by now with keeping track of time.
Anyway my Friend can’t eat dark or milk chocolate as it gives her really bad headaches. I know!!!! Could you imaging not being able to eat chocolate!!! Thats like some kind of nightmare in my world. So I couldn’t take her a plate of chocolate brownies as she couldn’t eat them and that would be just plain mean, and after all it was her birthday. So I decided to make her some blondies and insert one of her fav chocolate bars into them, to jazz them up a bit, the good old white chocolate Kit Kat. I may have lost a few slices of Kit Kat as they went into the mixture, I could just say that some how they fell on to the floor but really they fell into my mouth and got gobbled up, lucky I had another bar on stand by for such an unfortunate event….
