It gives me great pleasure to let you all know that my book, A Piece of Cake has taken out the third place for the best Pastry book in the world at the Gourmand World Cookbook award held last night in Yantai, China. How Cool is that!! Not a bad spot for my first ever cookbook running against pastry books from all over the world, including france the home of pastries. The Gourmand Cook Book Awards are considered the Oscars of the Book World and I have been fortunate to be able to come to China to attend to represent my country of Birth the land of the long white cloud, Aotearoa, New Zealand. As you all probably know if you have been following my blog for a while, my book took out the Best Pastry Cookbook in New Zealand, which allowed me the great honour to be able to come to the awards. If you haven’t already got a copy of my book you can get your hands on one here
I have spent the past few days getting to know some of the other entrance in the awards, from all over the world and I have to say I have meet some of the most talented, inspiring and creative people I have ever had the opportunity to meet. I feel so truly blessed to have been able to be here with them and share in this amazing experience. We have eaten and experience all that Yantai has had to offer and I have been eating some amazing street food. This is one experience I will remember for the rest of my life and I thank them so much for creating these lasting memories with me.
Now the internet in China is not the greatest and I can’t get onto Facebook or Instagram otherwise my feed would be buzzing with pictures of my experience. I will post them once I return which will be in a few Days. In the mean time I hope this post goes through and you get to enjoy this cheesecake brownie recipe which I am in love with. If I’m lucky it might even automatically post to Facebook fingers crossed.
